Tour Update & Other Stuff

World Homeless Day Tour 2010

whd-white-200We have been hard at work raising funds for the tour. Right now we are about half way to our $5,000 goal. We are 5 weeks away from our tour launch on September 15. So far, 6 shelters have signed up for the tour: two in Portland, two in Sacramento and two in San Francisco. They are excited about our visit and are looking forward to seeing us. More shelters are in the wings.

In addition to funding, we are searching for art supply companies that would like donate art supplies for the workshops and RV dealers/manufacturers who can lend us an vehicle for the tour. My wife and I are living in our Hearts Of Fire Project RV full time, so it would be easier for us to use another vehicle for the tour.

We are also looking for an art teacher/therapist and a film maker who would like to accompany us on the tour. It will be an amazing experience, I guarantee that! We may never pass this way again.

We are working with the homeless service provider community in Santa Barbara to create an art workshop to celebrate World Homeless Day on October 10 at the end of our tour. If you would like to help with that or anything else, please email me at heartsoffire@ureach.com

Ventura County Fair

img_0345We are having a blast at the fair! We are meeting lots of people and spreading the good news about the power of homeless people. Thanks to our sponsor, Regalo Extra Virgin Olive Oil Company, we have been taking donations for bottled water and gourmet olive oil. People love our art work too, especially the greeting cards. Although the pace of donations has been slower than last year, we had a good weekend and expect contributions to pick up this week. If you are in the area, stop and say hello! And thanks to all the great people who have volunteered to help us (like Lydia Golden in the picture with me.)

Speaking Engagements

I was the featured speaker at the Ojai Rotary Club West meeting last week. It was really great to share my vision for homeless people with a receptive and supportive audience. My thanks to all. If you have an event and need an inspired speaker, please call or send me an email at heartsoffire@ureach.com.

How You Can Help

There are many ways you can contribute, some of which cost you nothing. Pick the ones that works best for you:

Donate Cash

Donate Goods

  • Donate your old vehicles here. Our service provider will contact you directly and arrange to pick up your car, truck, RV or boat at no cost to you.
  • Sell items on eBay and donate some or all of your proceeds to us. When you list an item on eBay, select the Hearts Of Fire Project from the charity drop-down menu.

Free, No Cost Donations

  • Yahoo search tool, pays us for each search you do. If enough people use this, it could totally fund the tour.
  • Enter “Hearts Of Fire Project” when you sign up at eScrip. Participating merchants like Von’s and Safeway pay us for your normal purchases.

Of course, you can always send an old-fashioned check to:
