It’s an RV Van, at only 17′. But it’s just me in there, and some belongings, of course. Everything else is in a storage unit.

Friends helped me with this, saving me from another winter ‘out there’. But it’s ADDED overhead expenses I wasn’t prepared for, on top of that cursed monthly storage rent. And when the police ticket for even the slightest of over-time parking, that’s another big fine chunk each time.

This is exactly how so many of us stall out without getting back indoors. And I’ve watched so many get their vehicles essentially stolen, if when they can’t pay some expense or other (registration/ticket/etc) and are right back out on the streets again.

I am a family of 3 that through no fault of our own ended up on the streets. Hard work got us into a broke down R.V. that needs many many repairs, and let me tell you, living on the street is much harder than living in R.V that needs many repairs with a child. We have a small income as do many families in our position, but not enough to pay for rent. The R.V keeps us inside and safe and we are able to manage full coverage insurance and gas on our income. The city of Santa Barbara kindly donates a space to keep us safe from police. These programs help and I applaud those in administering them.

Is this program going to donate RVs to homeless families or sell them to raise funds for the “Hearts of Fire Project”? If the RVs are going to folks, who are unhoused, how will they pay for gas & lot/parking fees?

Do you want any help in getting the word out that you need more RVs for this project? Actually, someone once offered me a free RV from Craig’s List. Please keep me posted as things progress.
